Treasure
Sharing one's treasure with the Church is an important part of the substance of ministry. It is through your generous and sacrificial giving that we sow the good of the Lord in our vineyard here at home and support the Church throughout the world. The Church needs the generous donations of its parishioners in order to do the good work of our family, which includes, but is not limited to: paying salaries, insurance & bills, upkeep and maintenance of the buildings (priest's residence, offices, hall, church, etc.) and the property, school subsidy & support, generosity for the poor, mission appeals, and much more.
It is a sacred and holy responsibility for a parishioner to support the Church in which they worship through sacrificial giving. This sacred giving of self sustains, feeds fills the Church with the endless possibilities of growing more and more into the image and likeness of God.
Envelopes: There are many ways to support our parish through your generous donations. The easiest and most effective method for your donations is to use our envelope system of offertory. The envelopes help you keep track of your household budget, allowing families to pray together to make a spiritual decision to support their church. Envelopes also help families keep track of special collections, holy days of obligations, the Bishop's Services Appeal, and mission appeals throughout the year. Also, when it comes to tax time, we can provide you with a statement of your donations for the purposes of tax deductions. For parents of children that attend St. Francis School and/or Notre Dame High School of Acadia Parish, the envelopes help us determine school/parish subsidy. Of course, you may always choose to use cash and check donations at offertory time.
Special Collections: There are two special collections taken up each month. On the first Sunday of every month we take up our Building & Renovation Collection. For St. Joseph, this money goes to pay down our debt from the renovation that was recently completed. For St. Michael, this money goes into savings to help maintain the buildings that we currently have, and to plan for future projects.
On the last Sunday of every month, we take up the Bishop's Services Appeal collection. Please visit diolaf.org/BSA for more information.
